I have always been artistic, having been raised by father who was an art professor and a very creative mother. I enjoy dabbling in all kinds of media, but glass is my favorite. I took a glass blowing class a number of years ago, but realized that the scale and expense was much too large to be able to do on my own. Then I found lampworking. How exciting to find a medium where I could combine my melting glass obsession with my longtime hobby of making jewelry. I delight that I can have a concept of a jewelry piece and can then create the beads myself.
I have been making beads since 2000. In 2005 I quit my corporate job to dedicate myself to pursusing my career as an artist. Since the popularity of lampworking has increased, I enjoy the challenge of making my work unique and coming up with new ideas.
After several years of using recycled glass from a glass blower's studio, I have started also using recycled bottles and other recycled materials.
